Mortgage Application Checklist

When applying for a loan, there are some documents that you may want to get in order before you start the process. The basic list of documents and information needed may be found below.


  • Basic personal information such as name(s) of borrower(s), social security numbers, current address... etc.
  • Previous 2 years W-2’s and 1099 forms (if applicable)
  • Pay stubs to verify income
  • Insurance Information
    • Declarations Page
    • Agent’s name and phone number
  • List of assets
  • Most recent utility bills for water, sewer and/or electricity  (must be from last 30 days)   
    • Name and address must be on the bill. 
  • Current Homeowners Association  (HOA) bill or statement (if applicable)
  • Previous 2 months of bank statements
  • Documentation of any bankruptcies encountered by the party and a letter from attorney stating that borrower can be reviewed for loss 
  • Signed Privacy Policy Disclosure Notice 
  • Mortgage/Household Documentation
    • most recent mortgage statement
    • Current property tax statement tax bill or statement
    • Current homeowner’s Insurance policy declarations page, including flood policy


While this list isn't everything you'll need, it's a step in the right direction. The better prepared you are to undertake the mortgage process, the less strenuous the process will be overall.
